COUNTERSPACE WEAPONS IN ANTARCTICA KNOWLEDGE AND INNOVATION CYCLES, IMPLICATIONS AND GRAY RHINOCEROSES

Main Article Content

Abstract

The technological advancement has led to new standards in timing and achievements, opening possibilities towards new horizons. Amidst this technological disruption and innovation cycle, space activity emerges as a key player. Contemporary innovations manifest as weapons and counter-space systems, even used in interstate conflicts. However, their employment transcends space, requiring strategic locations such as Antarctica. This region, crucial in global geopolitics, lacks effective instruments to regulate dual-use technologies, such as counter-space capabilities, opening new dimensions of future conflict. This study aims to describe the development of space-Antarctic conflict and the situational awareness of decision-makers in the region. Through critical discourse analysis, it is expected to generate advanced knowledge about contemporary warfare, space exploitation, and its influence on geostrategic spaces, contributing to decision-making in Defence.
