Abstract

Post-truth is a concept that is here to stay. Despite its criticism from the academies of knowledge and political actors, this phenomenon cannot be ignored when studying security due to epistemological and strategic discomforts. It also constitutes an ethical questioning, since post-truth involves at its center a particular assessment of the truth as well as a criticism that falsehoods have been morally accepted to support all public opinions, and as viable mechanisms of political competition. Does misinformation generate a security problem and become a threat to democratic societies? This workbook aims to make an analytical and reflective approach to how the post-truth phenomenon is related to security studies and its exercise.
